Born and raised in India, Gayatri Badriprasad came to California for graduate studies and has made the Bay Area her home, spending the last 15 years in product management at various tech companies.
As a mother of two elementary-aged children, she noticed a growing need for AAPI awareness and a lack of modern cultural education options in the East Bay. While classes on Indian music, dance, language, and religion existed, a contemporary approach to cultural learning was missing.
In 2021, she launched Camp Indian Explorers—a program offering South Asian social studies that connect with today’s children through their personal journeys and school experiences. Over the past four years, she has taught students with Indian, Pakistani, Afghani, and Tibetan backgrounds and plans to expand the program across the Bay Area.
Gayatri holds a PhD in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara and a Diploma in Education from UC Berkeley with an emphasis in Educating for the 21st Century. She is passionate about exploring how AI and critical pedagogy can help children build cultural understanding and foster connections across communities worldwide.
